Meet Your Team
We formed the Ag First political action committee as State Representatives—but more importantly, as members of the agriculture industry—with a simple goal: to help strengthen the voice of agriculture in our State’s Capitol—FROM THE INSIDE. We know the process, and we know the stakes.
We are uniquely positioned to recruit, support, and educate ag-focused candidates to add to our team of legislators ready to prioritize agriculture.
Why? Because at the end of the day, no one fights for you like your own!
Oregon’s ag industry adds over $42 billion value to our state’s economy each year (over 9% of Oregon’s total economy), and employs over 371,300 of our citizens. It is also incredibly diverse, with 225 different commodities–all with different needs and tolerances to withstand new tax and regulatory burdens–but our State Legislature continues to ignore our voice when passing legislation that limits our ability to simply do our job and compete in a global marketplace.
In the past few years alone, we have seen harmful policies in our State Government like those we spell out on our Issues, Proposals & Threats page.
We have made great strides in increasing our number of ag legislators, but it isn’t enough to protect our farms, ranches, nurseries, dairies, and orchards.
Ag First will allow us to work from within the Legislature to support candidates we know and trust who are committed to protecting the future of our agriculture industry as their FIRST PRIORITY, and once again bring a balanced voice to Salem that appreciates the value of our farms!
THIS IS THE YEAR WE CAN CHANGE IT ALL.
Oregon’s agriculture industry is as diverse as our state. We know the complex and varied needs that each unique region and commodity faces because we’re walking through the same challenges and struggles you are. We are your best defense against policies that fail to consider the negative impacts on our industry, and we need your support now more than ever.
